The year-on-year growth of Africa’s population
the Middle East and Africa is the third fastest growing region for dairy
As the middle class in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region grows, with it comes a greater awareness of health and wellness, and a consequent demand for affordable nutrition products. As Simon Penfold, NZMP GM for Middle East and Africa, points out, this opens up valuable opportunities for NZMP’s customers in the region.
“The value in health and wellness products is rising rapidly across the Middle East and Africa, this is also evident in reports from Euromonitor. We expect this trend will continue.”
Having previously had the lowest dairy consumption in the world, Africa’s newfound appetite for dairy nutrition presents a particularly exciting new frontier, especially as Sales Director for Africa, Carey Ebbett, points out – the region’s strong population growth of 2.6% year-on-year. “As the population grows we’re seeing more urbanisation – the move from the country to the city – and we’re seeing a move in wealth.”
As well as offering a variety of dairy nutrition products, NZMP also has a strong in-person presence in the MEA region. “We’re here on the ground, available for our customers 24/7,” says Simon Penfold. “From an expertise perspective we have some of the most knowledgeable and expert people in dairy, both here in the region and also the skills we have in New Zealand and other parts of the NZMP globe.”
