This ingredient has the following features:

  • Mild, slightly sweet flavour
  • Lower fat, higher protein than cheddar
  • Uniform creamy colour
  • Smooth body

This ingredient can be used in the following applications:

  • Table or snack cheese
  • Shredding and slicing for retail, catering and industrial packs (recommended to use within 12 months of manufacture for these applications)
  • All purpose cheese for cooking, including pizza topping
  • Processed Cheese applications

NZMP Edam is reduced fat, semi-hard cured rindless cheese renowned for its uniformity and consistency, with high protein content and a slightly sweet flavour.

The many uses of Edam - Edam makes an excellent table or snack cheese. It can be used for shredding or cutting into smaller retail units or as a processed cheese ingredient.
